The touch panel kit consists of the LCD screen...


...the touch panel controller board...

...the LCD backlight inverter board...

...the touch screen cameras...

...and two side brackets.

before removal

To service the touch panel kit, first remove the optical drive... (Roll mouse over image)

...the hard drive... (Roll mouse over image)

removal

The touch screen cameras and the LCD backlight inverter must be disconnected before removing the touch panel kit.

Detach the connector from each of the touch screen cameras at the top corners of the unit.

Detach the two LCD connectors from the inverter board.

Free the inverter cables from cable guides and tape on the middle frame.

Tilt up the middle frame... (Roll mouse over image)

...to access and remove the LVDS cable from the LCD panel.

Push the inverter connectors down through their access holes... (Roll mouse over image)

...and lift the middle frame off of the panel. (Roll mouse over image)

If installing a new touch panel kit, remove the side brackets from the old touch panel kit.

Each bracket is secured with two screws.

Install the brackets on the new touch panel screen. (Roll mouse over image)

installation

If replacing the LCD panel, you must install a new inverter board that is paired to the new panel.

To replace the panel, first lay the panel face down on a soft surface.

Place the top of the middle frame over the panel... (Roll mouse over image)

...and insert the inverter connectors up through their access holes. (Roll mouse over image)

Attach the LVDS connector to the LCD panel.

Swing the rest of the unit down over the panel. (Roll mouse over image)

Replace the inverter board connectors in their cable guides... (Roll mouse over image)

...and tape the inverter cables down.

Attach the connectors to the inverter board.

Connect the touch screen panel cables to the touch cameras.
