To remove the side caps, first remove the optical drive...

Each side cap is secured to the middle frame by three screws.   Three screws

Detach the screws.

Grasp a side cap and swing out slightly to disengage from the front bezel.

Note: There are no system components attached to the side caps.

Pull the side cap off the unit.

Repeat for the second side cap.

Each side cap has four sets of small plastic tabs.

The tabs fit into four small slots on the front bezel.

To replace the side caps, align the bottom edge of the first side cap against the front bezel.

Press the side cap in until the tabs snap into their slots.

Repeat for the second side cap.
