before removal

To remove the hard drive cable, first remove the optical drive... (Roll mouse over image)

...the stand cover... (Roll mouse over image)

...the stand... (Roll mouse over image)

...the rear cover... (Roll mouse over image)

...the motherboard EMI shield... (Roll mouse over image)

...and the hard drive.

Detach the two cable connectors from the motherboard.

Untape the connector from the base pan... (Roll mouse over image)

...and free the SATA cable from the cable guide on the middle frame. (Roll mouse over image)

Detach the two screws for the hard drive connector.

Lift the connector off of its standoffs... (Roll mouse over image)

...and feed the cables out through the bracket on the middle frame. (Roll mouse over image)

Remove the assembly from the PC.

installation

To replace the hard drive cable, feed the connectors through the bracket on the middle frame. (Roll mouse over image)

Press the cable connector back onto its standoffs. (Roll mouse over image)

Replace the two screws onto the connector.

Replace the SATA cable into the cable guide... (Roll mouse over image)

...and tape the other cable to the middle frame. (Roll mouse over image)

Replace the two connectors to the motherboard.
