To install an SO-DIMM module, follow these steps:

All SO-DIMM modules have a registration notch on the bottom edge.   Registration slot in an SO-DIMM

The notch aligns with a key in the socket.

Note: Each SO-DIMM type has a different notch position. Incompatible modules cannot be installed in the memory socket.

Registration key in an SO-SIMM slot
Position the SO-DIMM at a 30º‑45º angle, then match the notch on the DIMM with the key on the socket.   Match the key on the slot with the notch on the DIMM.
Carefully push the module into the socket until its connectors (golden fingers) are firmly inserted in the socket.   Push the DIMM module into the slot.

Press the SO-DIMM firmly until the SO-DIMM socket retaining clips snap back and secure the memory module in place.
