A view of the memory reader inside the unit..

before removal

To remove the memory reader, first remove the optical drive... (Roll mouse over image)

...the stand cover... (Roll mouse over image)

...the stand... (Roll mouse over image)

...and the rear cover. (Roll mouse over image)

removal

Detach the two screws for the right speaker...

...and pull the right speaker out of the way. (Roll mouse over image)

Detach the connector from the memory reader.

Remove the two screws for the memory reader.

Pull the memory reader out of the unit. (Roll mouse over image)

installation

The memory reader has two small holes on the board...

... that fit over alignment pegs on the front bezel.

To replace the memory reader, align the holes over the pegs. (Roll mouse over image)

Replace the two screws.

Replace the connector to the reader.

Replace the right speaker... (Roll mouse over image)

...and secure with its two screws.
