Speakers removal

Before you begin: First remove the USB dongle cap, the right rear cap, the left rear cap, the stand, the T rear cover, the left side cap, and the right side cap. Remove the optical drive eject button, and partially remove the rear IO bracket and the webcam. Remove the USB dongle, the rear cover, and the motherboard EMI shield.

Steps

  1. The speakers can be removed separately. (just one speaker removal is shown)
  2. To remove either speaker, first detach its connector from the motherboard. 
  3. Disengage the connector from the cable guide at the base of the motherboard.
  4. If removing the right speaker, disengage the speaker connector from its cable guides on the front bezel, and remove any tape securing it to the bezel.
  5. Detach the two screws for the speaker.
  6. Pull the speaker out of the unit.

Speakers replacement


Steps

  1. To replace either speaker, align the screw holes on the speaker over the standoffs on the front bezel.
  2. Replace the two screws.
  3. If replacing the right side speaker, secure the connector into its cable guides on bezel and reapply tape.
  4. Right speaker: replace the connector in the motherboard cable guide
  5. Reconnect the connector to the motherboard.
  6. Note that the motherboard stencil indicates the location of the left and right speaker connectors.
