Motherboard removal

Before you begin: First remove the USB dongle cap, the right rear cap, the left rear cap, the stand, the T rear cover, the left side cap, and the right side cap. Remove the optical drive eject button, and partially remove the rear IO bracket and webcam. Remove the USB dongle, the rear cover, the motherboard EMI shield, and the motherboard IO shield.

Steps

  1. Next, remove the thermal module, the graphics card, the wireless LAN card, the TV tuner card, system memory and the microprocessor from the motherboard. 
  2. Remove all remaining system connectors from the motherboard.
  3. Remove the five screws for the motherboard.
  4. Angle the motherboard carefully out of the unit and place in an anti-static bag.

Steps

  1. To install a new motherboard, carefully align the motherboard back into the unit under the hinge slider, pulling any cables out of the way.
  2. Press the motherboard onto its standoffs.
  3. Replace the five screws.
  4. Replace all connectors to the motherboard.
  5. Replace the microprocessor, system memory, the TV tuner card, the WLAN card, the graphics card, and the thermal module to the motherboard.
