Front Bezel removal
Before you begin: First remove the USB dongle cap, the right rear cap, the left rear cap, the stand, the T rear cover, the left side cap, and the right side cap. Remove the optical drive eject button, and partially remove the rear IO bracket and the webcam. Remove the USB dongle, the rear cover, the motherboard shield, the thermal module, and the hinge slider.
Steps
- Detach the speakers from the front bezel and pull into the unit.
- Pull the right speaker connector out of the front bezel cable guides and pull it in as well.
- Detach the power switch, infrared sensor, and USB dongle connectors from the motherboard.
- Detach the wireless antennas from the wireless LAN card and pull out towards the bezel.
- Remove the grounding screw for the USB dongle port from the middle frame.
- Remove the 15 system screws securing the middle frame to the front bezel.
- Pull the bezel off the middle frame.
- If replacing the front bezel, remove the power switch, the wireless antennas, the IR blaster, the USB dongle port, and the microphones and install on the new bezel.
Front Bezel replacement
Steps
- The front bezel has six locator pegs that fit into corresponding holes on the middle frame.
- To replace the front bezel, lay the bezel face down on the work surface.
- Place a foam wedge inside the bezel area and lay the rest of the PC onto the wedge.
- Pull the bezel up to the PC, inserting the locator pegs into their holes and aligning the screw holes on the bezel with the screw holes on the middle frame.
- Replace the 15 screws for the front bezel.
- Replace the wireless antenna connectors to the wireless LAN card.
- Replace the power switch and USB dongle port connectors into the cable guide at the base of the motherboard and reattach them to the motherboard.
- Replace the right speaker connector into the cable guides onto the front bezel.
- Replace the speakers onto the front bezel.
