System board removal

Note: For the location of system board jumpers, connectors and other items, please see the Part Locators.

Note: This content was developed with a pre-production computer that used Phillips-head screws. Your computer will have Torx-15 screws.

Before you begin: Remove the stand, optical drive door, rear cover, minor bracket, hard drive, DC power cable, Wi-Fi board, Memory, and thermal module.

  1. Disconnect all cables from the system board, noting their location for reinstallation.
  2. Remove the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the system board to the main bracket.
  3. Remove the 5mm hex nut used for mounting the DC power cable.
  4. Lift and remove the system board.

System board replacement

  1. Align the screw holes in the system board with the mounting holes on the main bracket.
  2. Replace the 5mm hex nut used for mounting the DC power cable.
  3. Replace the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the system board to the main bracket.
  4. Reconnect all cables to the system board.

Important! After installing a new system board, be sure to update the BIOS to the latest revision or to the version requested by the customer.
