
Optical drive removal
Before you begin: Remove the stand, optical drive door, rear cover, and minor bracket.
Note: This content was developed with a pre-production computer that used Phillips-head screws. Your computer will have Torx-15 screws.
- Disconnect the SATA cable from the optical drive.
- Remove the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the optical drive bracket to the chassis.
- Lift the drive off of the chassis.
- Remove the four P0 screws that secure the drive on both sides of the bracket.
- Slide the drive out of the bracket.
Optical drive replacement
- Slide the optical drive into the bracket and align the screws holes.
- Replace the four P0 screws that secure the drive on both sides of the bracket.
- Position the bracket over the mounting holes on the chassis.
- Replace the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the bracket to the chassis.
- Connect the SATA cable to the optical drive.
