Optical drive removal

Before you begin: Remove the stand, optical drive door, rear cover, and minor bracket.

Note: This content was developed with a pre-production computer that used Phillips-head screws. Your computer will have Torx-15 screws.

  1. Disconnect the SATA cable from the optical drive.
  2. Remove the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the optical drive bracket to the chassis.
  3. Lift the drive off of the chassis.
  4. Remove the four P0 screws that secure the drive on both sides of the bracket.
  5. Slide the drive out of the bracket.

Optical drive replacement

  1. Slide the optical drive into the bracket and align the screws holes.
  2. Replace the four P0 screws that secure the drive on both sides of the bracket.
  3. Position the bracket over the mounting holes on the chassis.
  4. Replace the four P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the bracket to the chassis.
  5. Connect the SATA cable to the optical drive.
