
Hard drive removal
Before you begin: Remove the stand, optical drive door, rear cover, and minor bracket.
Note: This content was developed with a pre-production computer that used Phillips-head screws. Your computer will have Torx-15 screws.
- Remove any cables from the guide tabs on the hard drive bracket.
- Remove the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the hard drive bracket to the chassis.
- Slide the drive off of the connector on the system board.
- Lift the drive off of the chassis.
- Remove the four P0 screws that secure the drive to the bracket.
- Pull the drive out of the bracket.
Hard drive replacement
- Place the hard drive into the bracket and align the screws holes.
- Replace the four P0 screws that secure the drive to the bracket.
- Position the bracket over the guide pins on the chassis.
- Slide the drive into the connector on the system board until it is fully seated.
- Replace the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the hard drive bracket to the chassis.
- Replace the cables into the guide tabs on the bracket.
