Control board removal

Before you begin: Remove the stand, optical drive door, and rear cover.

Note: This content was developed with a pre-production computer that used Phillips-head screws. Your computer will have Torx-15 screws.

  1. Remove the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the main bracket in front of the control board.
  2. Remove the 5mm hex nut that secures the control board to the main bracket.
  3. Slide the board off of the screw post and disconnect the switch cable.
  4. Remove the control board.

Control board replacement

  1. Connect the switch cable to the control board.
  2. Align the hole in the board with the screw post and slide it up against the main bracket.
  3. Replace the 5mm hex nut that secures the control board to the main bracket.
  4. Replace the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the main bracket in front of the control board.
