LCD Panel removal

Before you begin: Remove the rear cover. Separate the middle frame from the front bezel.

Steps

1. Remove the optical drive.
2. Detach the motherboard connector from the inverter board.
3. Detach the LVDS connector from the motherboard and untape it from the middle frame.
4. Detach the four screws – two on each side -  that secure the LCD panel to the middle frame.
5. Pull the frame off of the panel, feeding the LVDS cable down through its access hole.
6. Detach the two side brackets from the panel.
7. For the right bracket: first detach the two connectors from the inverter board. Untape each connector. Detach the two screws for the right bracket and pull off the right bracket.
8. For the left bracket: detach the two screws for the left bracket and remove the left bracket.

LCD Panel replacement

Steps

1. To install a new LCD panel, first attach the side brackets. The brackets are labeled left and right side.
2. For the left bracket replacement: align the left bracket onto the panel until the two screw holes align and attach the screws.
3. For the right bracket replacement: align the right bracket screw holes with the holes on the panel and attach with its two screws. Tape the two LCD connectors to the panel and connect them to the inverter board.
4. Align the middle frame over the LCD panel.
5. Press the LVDS cable through its access hole then place the panel onto the frame.
6. Attach the panel to the frame with the four screws.
7. Retape the LVDS connector to the middle frame and reconnect it to the motherboard.
8. Replace the motherboard connector to the inverter board.
9. Replace the optical drive.
