Heat Sink removal

Before you begin: Remove the rear cover and the EMI shield.

Steps

1. Loosen the three small captured screws on the heat sink in the order indicated by the stencils.
2. Carefully pull the heat sink out of the unit.

Heat Sink replacement

Steps

1. Before replacing the heat sink, clean off any thermal grease from the microprocessor.
2. Clean off any thermal grease on the heat sink as well.
3. Apply a new thermal pad to the heat sink.
4. To replace the heat sink, align the radiator under the system fan duct and the screws over the screw holes on the motherboard.
5. Secure the three screws in the order indicated by their stencils.
